In 2019, the Washington State Legislature passed the Keep Washington Working Act (KWW) to
ensure “the state of Washington remains a place where the rights and dignity of all residents are
maintained and protected in order to keep Washington working.” The KWW makes numerous
changes to state law restricting the extent to which state and local agencies may participate in
the enforcement of federal immigration laws. Most of the policy below is taken directly from the
Attorney General’s model policy on the Keep Washington Working Act.
