Message From The Chief – Rich Albo
Welcome to the Cle Elum/Roslyn Police Department web page. Our department has the unique responsibility of providing police services to the cities of Cle Elum and Roslyn. As the new Chief of Police, I am honored to serve these communities and take tremendous pride in being a long-term member of this department.
No Law Enforcement agency can function properly and effectively without the public’s support and trust. This support and trust cannot be forced upon the citizens, but rather must be earned. The best way to earn the support of the public is through professional conduct on the part of every Law Enforcement Officer.
We have strived to engage our communities to create stronger relations; we achieve this through various community, youth, and school activities, as well as community meetings. Each of our Department Members are an important part of our communities and demonstrate their commitment to Cle Elum and Roslyn both on and off duty. This web page is another effort to provide open communications with the public we serve.
It is important for both citizens and police officers to realize that we are all members of the same community, and therefore share the same interests and concerns for a safe and healthy community. I am proud of the members of this department and whole-heartedly believe in their commitment to the residents and visitors of our communities. Being a police officer is a difficult and dangerous job, but certainly made easier when supported by the community.
As for myself, my law enforcement career started in Kittitas County. After graduating college from Central Washington University, I started with the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy before becoming a full-time Corrections Deputy with KCSO. In 2009 I was granted the opportunity to work for the Cle Elum Police Department. I have had many excellent opportunities with the department to include being sent to many advanced trainings, being a Defensive Tactics and Taser Instructor, as well as being promoted to Sergeant to name just a few. My favorite part of the job has been participating in countless community and school events.
It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to lead an Agency with the community-centered values that have always been an important part of this Department. I see my position as the new Chief of Police to be a wonderful opportunity with many challenges for growth with the Agency as well as myself as a leader.
