SALARY RANGE: $ 8,716 – $ 10,594 per Month
STATUS: Full Time Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The City Planner performs a wide range of tasks primarily in an office environment that involves a significant degree of analytical, communication, and decision-making skills and abilities. This position requires a thorough knowledge of planning principles and practices, applicable laws and regulations, and the responsibilities of local governments. The City Planner shall work independently, and as a member of a team, in performing current planning, long range planning, and for assisting with the building permit processes as necessary. As a representative of the City, extensive contact with property owners, developers, the Planning Commission, and committee members, elected officials and the general public is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Urban, Regional, or City Planning, or a closely related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates with a degree in another field may qualify based on equivalent professional planning experience, which may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of professional planning experience in local government or a comparable setting. Experience encompassing both current and long-range planning is strongly preferred. A master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Demonstrated experience with critical areas review (floodplains, wetlands, streams, steep slopes) and familiarity with state regulatory frameworks (GMA, SEPA, etc.).
- Experience staffing boards/commissions (agenda/minute preparation, meeting management, public noticing, reporting) is preferred.
- Proven ability to coordinate complex projects, manage consultants/contracts, and collaborate across departments and agencies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present to commissions, Council, and the public; comfortable with evening meetings.
- Certification such as AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) preferred but not required.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Wage Range: $104,590 – $127,130 per Year

JOB SUMMARY: Operates a variety of equipment to cut, water and trim parks and open spaces. Collect and remove litter as well as clean bathroom facilities. Performs the regular and recurring installation, repair and maintenance work in the streets, water supply distribution, sewer collection system and parks division, perform snow removal during winter months on city sidewalks and other right of ways as directed.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of a shift supervisor, performs a full range of police duties necessary to enforce the law. Investigates complaints, maintains order, aids individuals and identifies criminal offenders. Identifies law enforcement problems, resolves conflicts and provides other police services to the public as necessary. Performs a variety of unplanned tasks which include the restraining of violent individuals or animals, running as fast as possible when chasing, climbing fences and responding to EMS and rescue emergencies. Decisions within areas of responsibility are made independently. Supervision received is general, often times not present. There is frequent interaction with the general public.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 21 years of age. • High School Diploma or GED. • Valid WA Driver’s License. • United States Citizen. • No felony convictions. • Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently. • Must be willing to work various shifts to include nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call as required. • Must have excellent communications skills and ability to make decisions during stressful situations. • Must possess or successfully obtain a Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy certification within six months from hire date, or successfully pass the equivalency test.
TESTING PROCEDURE: The testing procedure will consist of an Oral Board (tentatively scheduled for the week of Nov 17 -21, 2025) Psychological test, Polygraph test, Physical examination with drug screen, Extensive background check, and Chief’s interview.
