2021 Vertical Bridge Cell Tower

Project Background

In 2019, the City and applicant Vertical Bridge executed a ground lease for the location of a wireless communication facility (T-Mobile tower). However, the City Planning Commission denied the permits and the applicant began looking for an alternate location. 2019 Proposed T-Mobile Tower – process and permitting

2021 Project

In December 2020, Vertical Bridge and the City executed a new ground lease for an alternative tower location. Applications for required permits were received November 25, 2020 and processed per Cle Elum Municipal Code requirements.

PROJECT TIMELINE

  • August 11, 2020 – Pre-Application Review Meeting
  • November 25, 2020 – Project application package received
  • December 23, 2020 – Application package deemed complete
  • December 23, 2020 – 2020 Executed Ground Lease
  • January 6, 2021 – Notice of Application (see below)
  • January 27, 2021 – February 11, 2021 – SEPA comment period
  • February 12, 2021 – Permits issued
  • April 23, 2021 – Construction start

      • VARIANCE  PROCESS UPDATE
        • The original permit application submittal included a Variance. However, the Variance was determined not to be required based upon the Cle Elum Municipal Code (CEMC) 17.36.050(c) and definitions for buildings and structures found in CEMC 17.08.070 and CEMC 17.08.370, respectively. The Variance has therefore been retracted and the City will process a refund. Due to the cancellation of the Variance, which required a public hearing, the application package has been downgraded to a Type II administrative process and no public hearing will be held.
